Deadline: 01.10.2015

The World History Association invites submissions for the new WHA Dissertation Prize to be presented for the best dissertation in world, global, or transnational history. A world history dissertation is one that examines any historical issue with global implications, including but not limited to the exchange and interchange of cultures, the comparison of two or more civilizations or cultures, or the study in a macro-historical manner of a phenomenon that had a global impact. To be eligible, the dissertation must be defended at an accredited Ph.D-granting institution between the dates of August 31, 2012 and August 21, 2015 and must be written in English.

The prize consists of a $500 award, a certificate, and a one-year membership to the WHA.

Submissions should include a cover letter, abstract, and a PDF file of your full dissertation. Email all materials to: info@thewha.org with the subject line "WHA Dissertation Prize."

Entries must be submitted by October 1, 2015. Late entries and submissions that do not adhere to these guidelines will be disqualified. The prize will be awarded at the WHA's 2016 conference in Ghent, Belgium, if the awardee is in attendance.

In the event that the panel of judges considers that the quality of the entries does not warrant the awarding of any prize, the judges hall have the right to make no awards available.

Questions regarding the prize or its guidelines should be directed to info@thewha.org.
